The media spotlight is often a double-edged sword. No one knows this better than Debbie Reynolds and plaintiffs who filed Fixodent and Poligrip lawsuits. And yet, gossip and rumor-mongering aside, the real story here is being overlooked according to Sean Burke of AttorneyOne.
According to court documents, on May 14th, 2012, Debbie Reynolds, of Reedy, W.V. filed a mass tort product liability claim (Reynolds vs The Procter & Gamble Company et al) in Philadelphia’s Common Pleas Court (case no. 120501125) alleging her use of the denture cream Fixodent caused her to experience paralysis and other physical injuries. The lawsuit was filed as a short-form complaint in the master denture adhesive cream litigation at Common Pleas Court. In the lawsuit Reynolds, who started using Fixodent in 1990 and continues to use the product to this day, alleges she suffers from inability to walk and other physical injuries as a result of her denture cream use for a prolonged period of time.
In the April 1st, 2011 issue of General Dentistry, a study conducted by the University of Maryland was published revealing that excessive use of zinc-based denture adhesive cream may cause neurological damage and other problems from zinc poisoning.

In 2008, the American Academy of Neurology published a study on Denture Cream. The conclusion of the study was that, according to researchers, “Denture cream contains zinc, and chronic excessive use may result in hypocupremia and serious neurologic disease.”
