We’ve found that the people who make up Lube Nation are incredibly loyal to the brand, and we want to reward our biggest fan with the honorable title of Mayor of Lube Nation

Quaker Steak & Lube® is tapping into their loyal fan base of more than 600,000 people to find The Lube®’s biggest fan on Facebook and grant them the prestigious title of Mayor of Lube Nation.

Beginning June 21, members of Lube Nation will have the opportunity to sign-up to receive updates on the Mayor of Lube Nation contest and on July 6 will be able to officially enter their submissions on Quaker Steak & Lube®’s Facebook page. During the first five weeks of the contest, Quaker Steak & Lube® will choose their top 10 candidates to compete in the duration of the Mayor of Lube Nation campaign.

Once the top 10 candidates have been chosen, they will compete by answering a series of questions and challenges to prove why they should be the Mayor of Lube Nation. Challenges include candidates sharing what their favorite sauce is and why and sharing what their campaign song would be. They’ll also be asked to rally their friends to vote for them and share their campaign via social media. Quaker Steak & Lube® CEO John Longstreet and Mascot Gizzard CoopTM will keep tabs along the way and encourage users to participate with weekly YouTube videos.

“Through the Mayor of Lube Nation competition, we’ll be working to introduce our President & CEO John Longstreet to Lube Nation, as he will play such an integral role in the campaign,” said Marla Pieton, Senior Director of Marketing for Quaker Steak & Lube®. “As a two-time former mayor of Plano, Texas who began his working career as a dishwasher at The Lube®, we couldn’t have created a more perfect promotion to introduce our CEO as we work to connect with our biggest brand champions.”

Each week, Lube Nation will vote for their favorite candidates, and in the end, two candidates will rise to the top and compete in a Twitter debate for the grand prize, an action-packed coronation day at the original Quaker Steak & Lube® in Sharon, Pa., where the winner will receive the ceremonial key to Lube Nation, and will be gifted with a VIP parking spot at their local Lube along with many other prizes.

“We’ve found that the people who make up Lube Nation are incredibly loyal to the brand, and we want to reward our biggest fan with the honorable title of Mayor of Lube Nation,” said Shannon Baker, Partner, Director of Public Relations and Social Media at Gatesman+Dave, The Lube®’s agency of record.
