This week marked the first anniversary of the National Prevention Strategy (NPS) a collective effort from many national advisory groups on public health issues. TUHF Incorporated, a company that specializes in life solutions counseling asks Americans to evaluate their own personal prevention strategy.

Health and wellness is a personal struggle that no one agency or organization can fix. It is up to each individual to consider diet, lifestyle, exercise and supplements for better health.

“Even if you eat “healthy” you still will not get all the nutrients you need to maintain a healthy body. Our seeds have been modified to produce prettier and more productive crops,” says Debbie Langley of TUHF.

A study conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) found that a significant number of the U.S. population receives well under 70 percent of the U.S. Reference Daily Intakes (RDI) for vitamins A, C, B and the essential minerals. As a result, the prestigious Journal of American Medical Association reported “most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. It appears prudent for all adults to take vitamin supplementation.

Debbie also added, “The only way to combat the lower nutritional value of our food supply is to supplement it with nutrient dense supplements made from whole foods which have a high bioavailability.”

Bioavailability is the measure of how much of what you are taking is actually absorbed into your blood stream. The human body is slow to absorb synthetically generated nutrients but will readily absorb nutrients from the foods we eat. Although there are liquid multi-vitamins made from real whole foods out in the market place, they are harder to find and take some research. Consumers will want to look for bio-availability numbers of 97-100%.

“In these tough economic times it is worth the effort to seek out these supplements. If you have a job you want to stay healthy,” said Debbie. “If you are unemployed or under-employed you want to avoid medical expenses. Several Federal agencies have conducted studies showing the correlation between chronic disease and nutrition.”
