PacStar®, a leading developer of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), today announced the availability of the PacStar 3700 TacSat Nano, a lightweight, compact, and flexible package that provides multiband voice (high performance waveform, SINCGARS, VHF/UHF, etc.), ViaSat messaging services, and Radio-over-IP (RoIP) in a single case, easy-to-use solution.

The PacStar 3700 is designed for three distinct use scenarios: a) SATCOM-based UHF radio using the AN/PRC-152 handsets with external amplifiers and antennas, b) RoIP and radio interoperability (providing IP access and interoperability for up to six RF networks), and c) an AN/PRC-152 “Grab and Go” tactical radio with quick release and mobile accessories, providing soldier handset service.

“Enhancing the new generation of multi-band radios with RoIP and interoperability capabilities in the smallest possible form factor is critical for coalition and joint operations,” said Bob Dunn, chief executive officer, PacStar. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to deliver a solution that extends IP-based communications beyond the baseband edge router, bringing additional levels of situation awareness to our Warfighters.”

Based on PacStar’s extensive experience designing and building compact deployable baseband solutions for the DoD, the PacStar 3700 provides the ultimate in integrated, small form factor, all-in one radio interoperability kits. The core capabilities of the PacStar 3700 include two AN/PRC-152 multi-band radios and three 2-channel RoIP gateways, and a compact PC for management and deployed messaging services. Additionally, the system includes worldwide AC/DC input power, battery backup and battery chargers, and a variety of antennas, amplifiers, handsets and cables – in one transit case weighting only 40 lbs. As a result, warfighters will benefit from a solution for tactical communications that is easy to transport and quick to set up, while providing maximum flexibility for communications needs.
