Malvern, PA (PRWEB) June 22, 2012

Starting today, users of the popular educational app store KinderTown will have help from their Facebook friends when choosing the best apps for their kids. KinderTown’s latest release features extensive integration with the social network, allowing users to see which apps their friends like and currently own. At its most recent World Wide Developer Conference, Apple announced the latest version of its mobile operating system would also feature deep integration with Facebook. Apple is also updating its app store to show users what apps Facebook friends like, although the feature will not be available until the release of iOS 6 sometime this Fall.

About the similarities between KinderTown’s latest release and Apple’s upcoming features, founder and CEO Steve Welch said, “We obviously see this as validation of our latest release. Although functionality may occasionally overlap, our focus on educational apps for kids 3-8 years old allows us to build an app store that serves the unique needs of parents and early childhood educators."

Also new in this release, the KinderTown app is able to recognize what approved apps users already own, making it easy to filter those apps from the search results. Additionally, search results will automatically filter apps based on how popular they are with Facebook friends.

Changes to the educational search categories include the addition of the math concepts “operations,” “counting/reasoning,” and “analyze data” and the language concepts “letters and sounds,” “word play,” and “storytelling.”

The KinderTown App, which features more than 400 educational apps approved by early childhood educators, is available as a free download on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. KinderTown users have performed more than half a million searches for educational apps in the past three months. Additionally, the app been a top 100 educational iPad app for 10 consecutive weeks, making it the most popular app store focused solely on early childhood education apps.
