“After running one and a half shifts to get our orders shipped for the past several weeks, we decided to bite the bullet and double our warehouse space now rather than get caught with a facility issue in 4Q,” shared Co-founder and CFO, Tom Zegar. “Sales traditionally double in 4Q over the rest of the year.”
With the Daily Deal industry booming in recent years, many businesses explode into the sector but fall soon after in a volatile downturn. However, PulseTV.com seems to be bucking this trend.
Anisa Ali, Co-founder and General Manager, explained, “Growth without profit is not a game we are prepared to play and never have played it. We have been fortunate to be profitable and have steady growth. My brother, cousin Tom, and I will not place growth over profitably as a strategic objective. It is not part of our DNA. So when we double our warehouse space, you can be sure that we are indeed bursting at the seams.”
PulseTV.com has been offering a national product every day since it launched a daily deal initiative in 2007. The company shuns traditional coupon-based deal offerings, and it has proven successful. “We are somewhat of a throwback mentality that believes one can grow and be profitable at the same time,” said Anisa. “It has taken us twenty years to establish relationships with vendors, build solid fulfillment systems that handle incoming returns as well as outgoing shipments, set up in house customer service and of course manage facilities. This is all extremely difficult to reproduce. So, in a sense, it has taken us twenty years to become a proverbial overnight success.”
