AIMS 360 is celebrating remote technology. In efforts to prep clothing manufacturing companies for MAGIC and it affiliated shows, AIMS is dedicating the month of June to their one-of-a-kind native iPad app, AIMS RemoteLink.
Since the remote order taking solution was introduced in 2011 it has generated more popularity amongst salespeople that are on the go. “To complement the AIMS ERP Software Inventory Management system, we created an innovative tool for salespeople to be more productive and increase sales at trade shows, client sites or anywhere globally. In the past two years over 100 companies have started using AIMS WebLink/RemoteLink for their sales reps and customers,” says Shahin Kohan, President of AIMS 360.
The bottom line for an apparel company is to sell its product. The process of selling in our industry has never been easy, but it’s even tougher today as firms must compete more and more vigorously to win and hold their piece of a shrinking consumer base.
Fortunately, technological advances in the industry are enabling companies to speed and streamline their sales operations, helping them to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing global market. This streamlining is more important than ever today as many companies—including firms small to midsize, selling apparel and footwear—have been forced to downsize, with staff members increasingly carrying more and more responsibilities.
At one time, the sales process for sales reps in showrooms, tradeshows and on the road involved considerable manual work. It included showing the collections from a hefty catalog, handwriting the orders, then later phoning or faxing them in. Then, back at the company’s manufacturing facilities, the orders could be manually entered into the inventory tracking system, there to begin the production process for these orders. This, of course, all took time that could be better spent seeing more customers and earning more sales.
Cutting-Edge Options
Now, through the use of technology, apparel companies have cutting- edge technological options available to them that allow their salespeople to show their products, accept sales orders and get them entered, update and check inventory, view their client details, and even conduct business-to-business e-mail marketing—all from the convenience of their laptop or handheld device.
Now, too, the chore of manually entering data, traditionally associated with processing sales orders can be eliminated. WebLink wholesale integration and RemoteLink remote order entry software applications, both developed by AIMS 360 and its partner, Focal Technology Solutions, are cutting-edge software solutions for quick, efficient on-the-go order entry.
With fashion software applications such as AIMS RemoteLink, sales reps can download styles in their collection onto a laptop, show the available styles, sizes and colors, scan the items’ bar codes from the collection the buyer wishes to order, and produce an order confirmation on the spot—all without needing an internet connection. It is technology that is greatly reducing the time that sales reps need to spend with each customer, freeing them to talk to—and sell product to—other buyers.
Through the AIMS core apparel ERP system, these orders go directly into the company’s production system, removing the need for redundant order entry as well as the associated time and costs. In addition, the sales rep is immediately able to bring the available inventory up to date for the next day’s showings.
These applications save time in still another way: communication takes place instantly and automatically from a show booth, customer’s office or any other point of the order’s origin, directly into the manufacturer’s AIMS 360 system, eliminating concerns about cross-country time zones.
Mobile Technology
Mobile technology is making these processes even more convenient: AIMS software can be accessed via today’s cutting- edge portable devices such as smartphones, PDAs, iPads and other handheld devices. A couple years ago AIMS 360 introduced AIMS RemoteLink for the iPad (available for download from the Apple App Store). Sales reps visiting a client’s office or working an apparel show can show their entire look book on an iPad. You can also upload customer and inventory information, scan barcodes and business cards, swipe credit cards, take order signatures, map a client or business location and take orders directly on the iPad. Once the sales rep has arrived, orders can be taken from the customer directly on the iPad and transmitted to AIMS 360 apparel ERP software for processing.
At AIMS 360, we are continuing to look at the many functions that take place throughout the processes of apparel manufacturing, selling and administration. What we’re seeing is the continuing speeding up, and simultaneously the increasing miniaturization and convenience, of the communication processes and devices that drive these functions. What we’re doing is exploring these breaking technologies, and adapting them to keep our industry vibrant. Your ideas are most welcome.
