Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) June 25, 2012

Silverchair Learning Systems, the leading provider of online education and communication systems in senior care, has been approved as a Curriculum Developer by the state of Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Silverchair Learning has worked closely with DSHS officials to achieve this status in response to Initiative 1163 (I-1163), voted on by the people of Washington in November 2011. One goal of the initiative is to increase the training and education of caregivers providing care in adult family homes/assisted living communities (formerly called boarding homes) and in the home environment.

Nearly 50 Silverchair Learning educational activities have been approved by DSHS for assisted living communities and home care providers in Washington. With this approval, communities and providers have access to a wide variety of DSHS-approved continuing education activities and can be confident that direct care workers, licensed nursing staff, and affected managers can meet the I-1163 requirement for 12 continuing education hours. As an added benefit, a number of Silverchair Learning’s DSHS-approved courses are also approved by ANCC and NAB. While facilities and agencies can be assured that the Washington state I-1163 requirements are met, licensed staff can receive continuing education credit toward their personal licensure requirements.

“Silverchair Learning always strives to provide the most current, relevant content to meet ever-changing state and national training requirements,” said Lou Ann Robinson, Director of Accreditation for Silverchair Learning Systems. “Upon learning of DSHS’s new training requirements, we immediately took action to work with them to help our Washington clients stay current.”

The continuing education requirements of Washington’s I-1163 take effect on July 1, 2012.
