On June 12 at the W Hotel, the activities of Digital Doha Summit- an event sponsored by Forum One Communications - kicked off bringing together technology enthusiasts who talked about big ideas and online trends , the mobile web, website usability and open source content management. Mr. Rami Al-Karmi the CEO of N2Vlabs – The N2V Group’s growth accelerator and investment arm– was invited to deliver the Digital Doha Summit opening session keynote presentation.
Top executives and experts from the industry participated as attendees and speakers at the Digital Doha Summit. Participants and experts were from various leading entities including: ictQATAR, Netizency, Forum One, MADA, Al Jazeera Network, Silatech, Fakhro, Reach Out To Asia, Al Jazeera New Media Department, IREX, Aspetar, MEEZA, and many more.
During his presentation, Al-Karmi shared some enlightening statistics on the online social networks in the region, he urged the digital sector to encourage business leaders in the digital field to push the adoption of social media and digital channels as integral parts of their core day-to-day operations.
“Qatar has a 66% Facebook penetration, making it number one in Arabia and the fifth worldwide! There is a golden opportunity in Qatar that should not be missed,” he said. Facebook has a 44% penetration rate among the 58 million Internet users in the Arabic region, where the social networks present around 88% of the internet usage.
AlKarmi also mentioned that he was pleased to be a part of the summit, which is in line with the core belief of N2V to support the growth of digital Arabia.
During the summit sessions the experts and speakers shared with the attendees practical examples inspired by the opening keynote session, they talked about how Arab websites should abide by the best practices, also they touched on the need to implement mobile friendly interfaces for those websites from day one, in addition to a set of practical steps (checklist) that must be implemented immediately once they return to their offices to benefit from the digital opportunity in the Arab World.
