San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) June 26, 2012
Frontdesk Anywhere today announced its support for a charity providing hotel management software training, job rehabilitation and housing to the most needy of individuals. Wayside Christian Mission of Louisville, Kentucky uses the web-based Frontdesk Anywhere online hotel software to manage their 160 room hotel while providing valuable on the job hotel management training.
For the past two years, the Mission has run the hotel as a housing facility for its constituents. Frontdesk Anywhere is now on board to offer their help with running the operation. Using software donated by Frontdesk Anywhere, the Mission has set up a city center hotel that accommodates both travelers visiting Louisville and homeless people who are working to rebuild their lives.
The hotel is run by and for the homeless, who benefit from having a place to live while gaining valuable skills that improve their chances of getting a job.
Co-Founder of Frontdesk Anywhere Thomas Lyle said: “We are really excited to be involved with this project. It’s a great organization that is doing real work to help people get their lives back on track. That’s really important for us. Giving back is part of what we do and it reflects the values of the company and our employees. We’re here to provide a great product and service to our customers but to also do good things with our success.”
Mark Miller of the Wayside Christian Mission added: “Frontdesk Anywhere has been very important to us. Since we wanted to be a good job skill training place, to run a 12-story hotel with paper is just not how it’s done. So with the software from Frontdesk Anywhere we can provide a better service for our customers and better training for our clients. “That’s vital for them because when they leave here or are looking for work, they can say they’ve used computers and are familiar with how they work.”
The hotel aims to train and rehouse about 50 people every year, often helping them overcome drug addiction or readjust after months or years on the streets. The lady who currently runs the hotel lived rough in Louisiana before gaining from the training and rehabilitation program. She has gone from never having switched on a computer to training her similarly inexperienced staff in how to use Frontdesk Anywhere to keep the hotel running smoothly.
Co-founder of Frontdesk Anywhere Joe Kiernan said: “It’s a testament to how simple and intuitive our online hotel software is that people with little experience of using computers can master it so quickly. That helps to give people the confidence they need not to be afraid of computers and to embrace the opportunities they provide, particularly when looking for a job or career.”
The partnership with the Wayside Mission is just the latest venture that sees Frontdesk Anywhere bring business and community together. In November the company awarded $1,500 to student Christopher Delfs as part of its academic excellence scholarship.
On an ongoing basis, the company pledges one per cent of revenue, time and services to charitable causes and management encourages staff to partake in fundraising and community work. Mr. Lyle said: “We support our employees in working with organizations that are close to their hearts. These philanthropic ventures fit very nicely with what we believe our business should be about.”
