Houston attorney and investment banker Jim Fonteno, Jr. has been appointed to his seventh two-year term as a member of the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority. Fonteno was originally appointed in 1999. Port Commissioners serve without pay.
“I am honored to be reappointed to the Port Commission by the Harris County Commissioners Court,” Fonteno said. “I will continue to be a conscientious, diligent Port Commissioner and will continue my efforts to implement appropriate business reforms to the port’s business practices in concert with fulfilling the Port Authority’s core mission of generating jobs and economic activity for Harris County and the region.”
Port Commission Chairman James T. Edmonds applauded the Court’s decision.
“We welcome Commissioner Fonteno’s return,” said Chairman Edmonds. “He brings a
wealth of international experience, business savvy and vision to the Port Commission.”
Fonteno chairs the Port Commission’s Audit Task Force and is also a member of its Pension Task Force.
Fonteno has a broad professional background in finance, real estate, environmental policy and international business. He holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and a law degree from Georgetown University.
