One Stop Green allows customers to calculate the potential energy and savings that can be produced through renewable sources with its new mobile application update. The new Green Toolbox feature takes a user’s location and calculates potential solar and wind energy as well as water savings through rainwater harvesting. The new Green Toolbox feature is available as a new update for the One Stop Green mobile application.
The Green Toolbox takes a user’s ZIP code or uses the Internet signal to find geographic coordinates for the user and then looks up weather and climatology data for the area. The annual number of sunny days is used to calculate the potential energy generation of solar panels for the property. The average wind speed is used to calculate the potential energy generation from wind turbines on the property. The Green Toolbox also accounts for average rainfall for an area and can calculate expected water savings if the user harvests rainwater for gardening and other outdoor watering. There is also a feature that can calculate savings by switching from incandescent bulbs to CFLs that does not need the geographic locator.
