It’s time to bike n’ roll and see the best of Chicago’s sunny sights on two wheels. This summer Kimpton’s four Chicago-based hotels are launching a new “Bike this Town” package to help visitors take advantage of Chicago’s numerous lakefront trails, parks and beaches. The “Bike this Town” package includes a one-night stay in deluxe accommodations, two complimentary bicycle rentals, a packed picnic lunch for two (delicious options vary at each hotel) and a biker’s survival kit equipped with helmets, locks, maps detailing lakefront routes, energy bars, bottled water, sun block, and cyclometers to track one’s distance.
There’s even more need for speed this summer because Kimpton’s Chicago-based hotels will donate one dollar for every mile biked to Pedal Power (GoPedalPower.com), a local charity founded in 2008 by then eight-year-old, Nicole Basil. Pedal Power collects unused bikes and donates them to Chicago public schools where they are rewarded to children with good grades. Proceeds from Kimpton’s “Bike this Town” package will help fund helmets for the future tykes on their bikes.
