Once school ends, so does the free and reduced price breakfasts and lunches that many underprivileged Oklahoma children have relied on. This summer, Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge is leading the fight to help those children in need by teaming up with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge has launched a “Likes for the Fight Campaign” through their Facebook page to help the Food Bank give thousands of meals to those in need. “Like” the Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge Facebook page and for each like they receive the will donate one dollar to the Food Bank’s Summer Feeding program. The dealership has set a goal of providing at least 12,500 meals to chronically hungry children. The dealership is also offering the community a chance to donate directly to the Food Bank through their Store by visiting the Likes for fight tab.

In addition to the social media campaign, Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge will be collecting non-perishable goods inside the dealership and invites the community to bring canned goods and other items to be distributed through the Food Bank.

“Traditionally, winter is thought of as the time of giving, but we think that it should go on throughout the year. No child should go hungry, and certainly not one in our neighborhood. We’re using Facebook to end hunger because it’s a great way to get everyone we know to get everyone they know to help us make that happen,” said Robert January, GSM, Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge.

These meals will go a long way in feeding children who would otherwise go hungry this summer due to a lack of school provided meals.

“Children should never have to go to bed with the pangs of hunger in their bellies,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “Help fight childhood hunger in Oklahoma this summer with the click of a mouse.”

At the end of summer the dealership will transport a Ram Truck Full of goods directly to the Food Bank and present them with a check for the amount of money collected.

“We find it important to use our influence in the community for good. Not only are we going to give $1 for every new like, but we are also accepting canned goods at our dealership. Our employees and customers are excited to contribute, too!” says Matt Azcueta, Internet Director, Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge
