Songtsan Travel, a locally-owned Lhasa-based tour agency, announces an 8-day tour of Nepal that focuses on the famous sights of this beautiful Himalayan country. The tour will go through the cities of Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan.

Sights in the Kathmandu valley include:

  •     The Gantaghar, a public clock tower designed after London’s Big Ben.
  •     Patan Durbar Square, location of the ancient royal palace of the Malla Kings (12th-18th century)
  •     Dharahara Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1832, with a panoramic view of the city
  •     Kathmandu Durbar Square, located around the old royal palace of the Kathmandu kingdom. The square features many temples and palaces and unique architecture dating back to the 11th century.
  •     Rani Pokhari, a lake built by king Pratap Malla in 1727 as a memorial for his wife.
  •     Swayambhunath , also called Monkey Temple, is an ancient Buddhist complex and pilgrimage site from the 5th century.
  •     Thamel, Kathmandu’s tourist and mountaineering district.

From Kathmandu travelers will make a day trip to Nagarkot to see Mt. Everest at sunrise. This scenic region east of the city has panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and Langtang mountain range. After spending time in the Kathmandu area travelers will fly west to the city of Pokhara, which is renowned for its proximity to the Himalayas, including the Annapurna mountain range and 3 of the 10 highest mountains in the world.

From Pokhara travelers will drive to the Chitwan valley in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Chitwan National Park and Parsa Wildlife Reserve features remarkable biodiversity, including the endangered Bengal tiger and the Asian rhinoceros.
