The CRP is a small, implantable device used for rotator cuff repair surgery, especially in cases of large tendon tears in the presence of osteopenia. Biomechanical testing results have shown that a repair with the CRP is up to 13 times stronger than a repair by other methods under conditions involving poor bone quality.
Dr. John Costouros, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Shoulder Specialist at Stanford University adds, “The management of rotator cuff disease is one of the most common problems that we treat as orthopaedic surgeons. Especially today, where our population is living longer and is interested in remaining more active, the CRP is a valuable tool that will enhance our ability to treat rotator cuff tears in patients with osteopenic bone.”
