Hot on the heels of the Miami Heat winning the 2012 NBA Championship, Ludus Athletics announced today they are hosting Miami Heat DJ Irie and the kick off event for the Irie Foundation weekend Thursday night, June 28th on exclusive Star Island. In making the announcement Ludus founder and CEO Hamed Wardak said, “It’s been such a great time of celebration in Miami, but this three day weekend solely dedicated to DJ Irie’s charity is the best gift of all.”
Top celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment will gather at a private residence on Star Island for the event, including the NFL’s Reggie Bush and Jonathan Vilma as well as Chris Kirkpatrick. Said DJ Irie, “This is the 8th year I’m doing this event, and having this kick off party couldn’t be a better way to start what will be a great and memorable weekend which we hope will raise significant funds for the Irie Foundation.”
The Irie Foundation seeks to improve the lives of South Florida youth through educational and extracurricular opportunities that may not otherwise be available to them. With a particular emphasis on the arts, the foundation’s ultimate goals is to improve the graduation rate among the young people it serves. Middle school students will be mentored and encouraged to remain in the program through high school and will receive scholarship money towards colleague or trade school tuition.
This is the second time Ludus Athletics and the Irie Foundation have joined together to host an event, which combines fun, fashion and fundraising. Born in Miami, the Ludus brand values aesthetics and produces apparel that is expertly designed to complement the human form. Ludus seeks to inspire women all over the world to reach their maximum capabilities and have a positive effect on society by giving back to their communities.
