The new 20" CDK Research Grade Telescope

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) June 28, 2012

TrueLook, a leader in professional webcam technology, has been chosen to stream live video during a milestone renovation at The Cranbrook Institute of Science. The institute is renovating their observatory to accommodate 3 new research grade telescopes - and they invite the world to watch.

The renovation of the observatory is part of a major upgrade at the institute. Cranbrook’s planetarium recently benefited from a major technology upgrade, including the installation of a state-of-the-art 360-degree star projector. The new telescopes within the observatory will digitally link with this projector, allowing telescope imagery to be displayed directly within the planetarium. The new technology gives Cranbrook one of the most unique and exciting astronomy experiences in the Midwest.

A live webcam will stream video from the observatory’s demolition and construction. The camera will begin inside to show the interior teardown and upgrade. The camera will then move outdoors while the observatory’s dome is taken off and replaced. The renovation will continue through September 2012, and upon completion will allow Cranbrook to offer expanded observatory hours and new programming.

The webcam is powered by TrueLook technology, and allows viewers to save webcam images directly off the interface. Viewers can also share the live video stream to Facebook or Twitter with built-in sharing features. Other TrueLook technologies are also utilized for construction time-lapse cameras, entertainment webcams, and travel webcams.
