IAIDQ presented Larry P. English (President of Information Impact International Inc, Brentwood, TN) with the 2012 Outstanding Achievement Award. This award recognizes his decades of dedication to the IDQ profession and outstanding contributions including books, article publications, seminars, consulting services and training courses around the world. Larry was one of the two founding fathers of the IAIDQ.
The 2012 Distinguished Member Award which recognizes IAIDQ members who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding contributions in the field of information and data quality, was awarded to Danette McGilvray (President of Granite Falls Consulting, Newark, CA). At the same time, Michelle C. Dy (Consultant for Twitter in Philippines) was awarded with the 2012 Distinguished Service Award. This recognizes an IAIDQ member with dedication and exceptional service to the association, to its members and to its Board of Directors.
In the field of Information Quality, Larry English needs no introduction. Larry has been uniquely successful and a transformational IQ pioneer. Often referred to as the “Father of Information Quality”, Larry English is one of the most well known and often quoted authorities in Information Management and Total Information Quality Management. He developed his TIQM® Quality System from the proven quality systems of Deming, Kaizen®, Juran, Shewhart, Ishikawa, Crosby, Baldrige and Six Sigma. The TIQM Quality System has been implemented in market leading organizations worldwide since 1992. He has worked with more than 400 leaders in more than 40 countries on six continents. American Society for Quality, MIT Information Quality Program, DAMA International – all have recognized and bestowed honors on Larry for his contributions in the past.
Danette’s award is a testament of her dedication to the profession. She is a charter member of the IAIDQ and has given her time generously to assist in the development of the Information Quality Certified Professional (IQCP), a credential that has set the standard for professional recognition in the field of information and data quality. She is sought after as speaker for conferences and workshops around the world, and is a regular contributor to industry journals and newsletters. Her book, Executing Data Quality Projects, has had a profound influence on the information and data quality landscape. Through her work, she has helped transform information and data quality concepts and principles into tangible and actionable plans for people all over the world. The IAIDQ could not have a better ambassador than Danette for its mission to advance the quality of information around the world by building a community supporting learning and sharing knowledge for the benefit of the profession and information consumers.
Michele Dy has been a Charter Member of IAIDQ, and is one of its longest serving volunteers. She has served as the Chief Editor of IAIDQ Newsletter since 2005 and now IAIDQ Journal. She has worked as an IT consultant for clients in the Philippines and in Hong Kong for more than 18 years, specializing in business intelligence and data warehouse projects and has co-authored a book "Data Warehousing: Architecture and Implementation”. She has edited and published more than 120 articles since April 2005. The collection of articles is a unique and extremely valuable online resource to Information and Data Quality community worldwide. For her dedicated, steady, long-term commitment to the association, its members, and the broader community, IAIDQ confers its 2012 Distinguished Service award to Michelle.
