Titus Theatricals to Use Boise for Producing and Staging Global Tours

Boise native Eric A. McCree returns to his roots to stage and produce world-class performing arts through his production company Titus Theatricals LLC. McCree recently purchased a four-year option to produce a contemporary jazz-dance musical, The Bench: Journey Into Love. He anticipates that The Bench will be ready for a global tour in 2015 at which time Titus Theatricals plans to stage and rehearse the production in Boise.

With the recent partnership between Tony Award® winning Broadway production of War Horse and the Velma V. Morrison Center at Boise State University, Boise shows the potential to become an epicenter for theater production companies. Recognizing the Treasure Valley’s potential, McCree has embraced Boise as Titus Theatricals’ home base.

“I have seen the arts and culture industry blossom here,” said McCree. “I believe Titus Theatricals can take the arts and culture industry to the next level by becoming a major tourism draw and a budding source of revenue for the Treasure Valley.”

McCree, a Timberline High School graduate, works for the world’s largest live family entertainment producer, Feld Entertainment. He currently tours with Feld’s products Disney Live & Disney On Ice. Before joining Feld Entertainment, McCree attended The Art Institute of Seattle in Washington. Later, he studied alongside designers at the Tony Award® winning theater company, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. McCree launched Titus Theatricals in 2009 and began seeking out innovative productions and artists.

“Over the past three years, I have been looking for the right project for Titus Theatricals to produce and then I found Kiesha Lalama and her musical production The Bench,” said McCree.

The Bench unites choreographer Kiesha Lalama of Pittsburgh, accomplished composer David Lalama of New York and lyricist Joel Mason of Edinburgh, Scotland. Kiesha—who was named to Dance Magazine’s 2009 list of “25 to Watch”—serves as an Associate Professor in Point Park University’s Dance Department. David is currently Professor of Music at Hofstra University and is a founding faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Program.

Titus Theatricals plans to use local Idaho resources—technicians, rehearsal spaces and artists—to prepare The Bench for touring while shining the spotlight on Boise as a burgeoning arts and entertainment hub.
