After careful review, a panel of local fashion leaders selected six local apparel designers and two handbag designers to participate in the first ever Independent Designer Runway Show on Sept. 26th during this year’s Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection 2012. Over the next few months, the designers will go through a process of mentorship from the panel with the end result of each designer presenting a six to eight look collection on the runway.

Selected Designers:

  • Anne Sylvain by Patricia Raskin
  • Ampersand As Apostrophe by Jessica Park
  • Bd Homme by Banchong Douangphrachanh
  • Built For Man by Francisco Hernandez
  • Carole McClellan by Carole McClellan
  • Kreati-ka by Kathy Sabin-Mensah
  • Masha Osoianu Design by Masha Osoianu

One of the selected designers will receive a prize package that includes Fashion Funds to help build their business and a special display in Bellevue Square during the month of October. All selected participants will contribute a look for the Sept. 6th Fashion’s Night Out event at The Bellevue Collection as well as receive exposure in advertising and promotions for the new fashion runway show at Fashion Week 2012.

“The experience of meeting all of these amazing local designers confirms for all of us that the region has a wealth of creative talent,” says Jennifer Leavitt of The Bellevue Collection. “This new show will be an incredible addition to the events at Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection 2012 and something that we hope the community will embrace as we work to support and advance the local fashion industry.”

“I think it will be the strongest creative/indie show that [has] hit Seattle with your resources… and organization,” Carole McClellan, one of the selected designers. “The panel opened my mind up about my product, which is really going to affect what I show in September.”

September 26, 2012 the selected designer will join Seattle-area NBC’s Season One Fashion Star contestants Lisa Vian Hunter of Vian Hunter House of Fashion, and Lizzie Parker along with her partner Nicolas Bowes of Los Angeles, also a Fashion Star contestant, on the runway!
