Mumford & Sons hails from the United Kingdom and they are known for their folk rock style of music. This band formed about 5 years ago and they were a product of what is known as the "West London Folk Scene." Band members include Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Country Winston Marshal and Ted Dwane. Mumford and Sons has an incredibly unique sound due to the use of a plethora of different instruments used by the band. They make phenomenal sound with the blending of guitar, accordion, banjo, drums, dobra and string bass. Mumford & Sons fans often say that they can recognize their new songs immediately because no other band sounds quite like this group of mastermind musicians.
Mumford & Sons quickly established a faithful fan base after their first EP named "Love Your Ground" was played in intimate venues in both the United Kingdom and the States. This band seems to acquire "groupies" from all walks of life that yearn to go to each and every one of their concerts. Their first album called "Sigh No More," came out in Ireland and the UK in the Autumn of 2009 and in February 2010 in the U.S. This crafty album quickly climbed to the number one slot in the countries of Australia, New Zealand and ireland. The album did quite well in the UK and the US ending up at number two in both locales.
Mumford & Sons became especially popular during 2010 during their summer concert tour and they also appeared on TV in the United States. They were the recipient of Grammy Award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rock Song for "Little Lion Man." They won the ARIA Music Award which was for the most popular international artist in 2010 and an award for the Top British Album during the Brit Awards in 2011. This talented band was also the recipient of the European Border Breakers Award for their success internationally. It is unusual for a new band to gain popularity around the World as quickly as Mumford & Sons did over the last few years.
Fans of Mumford & Sons are in luck because they will be touring again during August of 2012. Their tour will take them to Pier A in Hoboken NJ, Eastern Promenade in Portland ME, Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua NY, Downtown Bristol TN, Louisville Water Park in Louisville KY, Page Park in Dixon IL, Gryphon Theatre in Laramie WY, The Great Saltair in Magna UT, Monterrey Fairgrounds in Monterrey CA, nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Portsmouth VA, Lifestyles Communities Pavilion in Columbus OH, the Pinewood Bowl Theatre in Lincoln NE, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison CO and the Aspen Snowmass in Aspen CO.
