Fall Flower Carpet

The Fall Flower Carpet will benefit the entire destination. It will serve to bridge the season from summer to fall and complement festivals and events before, during and following its 10-day duration.

Elkhart, IN (PRWEB) June 29, 2012

The first-ever Fall Flower Carpet will fill a city block in downtown Elkhart, Indiana from September 19 thru September 29, 2012. Plans call for 7,000 pots of jewel-toned mums, the diva of fall flowers, to blanket Waterfall Drive between High and Franklin Streets with vivid autumn color. The Fall Flower Carpet will be viewable at no charge and have a handicap accessible viewing platform. Cleverly placed lighting accents will enhance it for evening viewing.

This one-of-its-kind display, inspired by design elements in Elkhart’s newly restored Lerner Theatre, will take four days to complete. Themed to celebrate the arts and highlight the city’s RiverWalk and Arts & Entertainment District, it will provide a colorful backdrop for a variety of specially scheduled theatre offerings and complementing cultural activities. When the Flower Carpet is dismantled, the mums will be used to help local causes.

The Fall Flower Carpet is a one-time event produced by the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ECCVB) in a creative collaboration with the City of Elkhart. The city’s Buildings and Grounds Department will oversee the design and installation of this monumental project.

“The Fall Flower Carpet will benefit the entire destination,” says the ECCVB’s executive director, Diana Lawson. “It will serve to bridge the season from summer to fall and complement festivals and events before, during and following its 10-day duration.”
