The National Family Caregivers Association announced last week that its board selected John Schall to be the second CEO in the organization’s history. Allsup—an NFCA founding partner—welcomes the seasoned public policy and communications professional, and looks forward to working with him on behalf of America’s more than 65 million family caregivers.
“The NFCA has been a valuable collaborator in educating family caregivers about Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Medicare benefits,” said Tai Venuti, Allsup’s manager of Strategic Alliances. “Since [former CEO] Suzanne Mintz and Cynthia Fowler founded the NFCA in 1993, the organization has consistently been at the forefront, advocating for family caregivers, influencing policy at the national level and creating grassroots support systems. Mr. Schall’s background is well-suited to build on the NFCA’s groundbreaking work and keep it at the leading edge of caregiver issues.”
Schall was deputy CEO of the Parkinson's Action Network from 2009 to 2011 and has extensive experience in senior federal government positions.
Allsup, a nationwide SSDI representation company, and the NFCA both work with individuals with chronic illness and disabilities. The two organizations have developed a number of caregiver resources and released the results of a joint survey on higher-burden family caregivers last fall.
“I look forward to working with Allsup to develop additional meaningful resources for family caregivers. Allsup’s commitment to truly helping family caregivers is embodied by their role as a member of the NFCA’s Corporate Leadership Council. By convening a range of companies and associations that each bring their own particular expertise, the CLC, including Allsup, is vital to carrying out the caregiving mission,” Schall said.
