Sharply rising smartphone and tablet penetration in Colombia, combined with the strong growth of online advertising, clearly indicates that Colombia is going to experience very important growth in mobile advertising over the coming years.

StartMeApp (http://www.StartMeApp.net), the Latin American leader in the global mobile advertising revolution, today announced the opening of its new office in Bogotá Colombia, naming Natalia Escual as office manager for Colombia and the Caribbean.

Based in Bogotá, Ms. Escual will be responsible for oversight of all operations, business development and client relations with StartMeApp’s growing list of agency and corporate advertising clients in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and other Spanish-speaking countries of the Caribbean Basin region.

Ranked among the top-five Latin American countries for smartphone penetration, Colombia will have an estimated 19 million mobile web users accessing the Internet via tablets, laptops and smartphones by the year 2015, according to the GSM Association (GSMA), which represents mobile operators worldwide. In addition, digital business analysis firm comScore has cited a rapid increase in online advertising in Colombia, which jumped 56% in 2010 to reach $41 million and then increased by an additional 40% in 2011.

“Sharply rising smartphone and tablet penetration in Colombia, combined with the strong growth of online advertising, clearly indicates that Colombia is going to experience very important growth in mobile advertising over the coming years,” said StartMeApp Co-Managing Director and Founder, Alejandro Campos Carles. “For StartMeApp, this means that Colombia and the Caribbean basin countries will rapidly become key markets for our company and for our mobile advertising partners over the next three years.”

The opening of StartMeApp’s Colombia office is part of the mobile advertising company’s regional expansion program, which began with the opening of its Argentina country office in Buenos Aires in 2011, included the opening of its Mexico country office earlier this month and will continue with additional office openings during Q3-2012 in Santiago, Chile, and Miami, to cover the U.S. Hispanic mobile advertising market. StartMeApp will open its regional office for Europe in London in Q4-2012.

“StartMeApp is very pleased to announce both the opening of our new office in Bogotá and the the appointment of Natalia Escual as country office manager for Colombia and for the Caribbean Basin countries,” said Gaston Fonzo, Co-Managing Director and Founder, StartMeApp. “Natalia’s experience and background in media, Internet and mobility, plus her keen understanding of the importance of branding and customer loyalty, will provide StartMeApp customers and clients with the experience and expertise they need to successfully enter the mobile advertising market in Colombia and the Caribbean.”

To her new position as director of StartMeApp’s Bogotá office for Colombia and the Caribbean, Natalia Escual brings several years of business and marketing experience in media, Internet and mobile advertising, as well as background training as an economist and experience in the financial services sector.

Prior to joining StartMeApp in 2011, Ms. Escual spent four years working with media and Internet companies Ybrant Digital Latam (formerly, Dream Ad) and Bumeran.com, responsible for business areas that included account loyalty and development of business opportunities with clients and prospective clients. Previously, she was an Account Executive with American Express, as well as a Business Executive with Spain's Banco Santander in Argentina.

StartMeApp’s ongoing expansion throughout the LatAm region, including the office openings in Mexico City, Bogotá, Santiago and Miami, is fully funded by the company’s current operating revenues, which are generated entirely by the agency’s profitable mobile advertising business.

As Latin American smartphone usage and mobile ad viewing increase rapidly, media owners, publishers and networks, as well as brands and creative advertising agencies have been relying increasingly on StartMeApp to guide them through the maze of Latin American mobile markets and ad networks, helping them to serve their mobile apps across the region’s 27 countries, complex demographics, multiple platforms, carriers and handheld devices.

An independent mobile advertising company, StartMeApp maintains relations with multiple publishers, ad networks and exchanges operating in the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets, enabling it to provide impartial advice and make recommendations to clients on the most appropriate means to meet their content distribution and advertising needs.

StartMeApp’s ad network-agnostic approach have combined with the extensive mobile expertise and experience of the agency’s management and staff to enable it to become the leading independent company for planning and buying mobile media in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic markets.
