San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 02, 2012
Compare Health Insurance, a California health insurance broker, announces new benefits for all current and new individual policyholders. Health insurance companies are implementing maternity coverage and autism benefits in California effective July 1, 2012. All California residents will have these two new state mandated benefits in their plan.
Maternity will be covered the same as any other medical condition. Autism benefits will also be covered in California individual medical insurance policies and cover professional services and treatment programs, including applied behavior analysis and evidence-based behavior intervention programs, for the treatment of autism.
John Weiss, owner of Compare Health Insurance, says "these additional benefits will help out many deserving people but unfortunately it comes with a rise in monthly premium costs." Members can choose to either keep the same plan or downgrade coverage to offset possible premium increases.
These benefits are separate from the Affordable Health Care Act that was recently upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. Additional protections for pre-existing conditions and medical issues should be expanded over the next few years. Please review current individual and group policy contracts for specifics or call the insurance broker or carrier for clarification on coverage issues.
