This update provides a new level of integration that delivers on the promise of secure, centralized, and easy to retrieve matter information from a centralized, shared database.

BEC Legal Systems has announced the newest release of LegalBar, LegalBar 4.7 for Microsoft Word ® 2010. This press release highlights a recent upgrade of the LegalBar software and its improved integration between Microsoft Word® and MatterLink™.

LegalBar is a Microsoft Office® add-in seamlessly integrated with the Word environment, providing shortcuts, macros, templates, and document assembly tools for law firms. These tools increase the speed and quality of the document production process.

Improved features and functionality include an all new LegalBar Template Organizer, the ability to use Multiple Author Preference Sets, MatterLink Integration and enhanced Styles & Numbering including Document Defaults, and Multiple Table of Contents. LegalBar also offers FileStamp Document ID integration with iManage, OpenText, and Worldox document management systems.

The Template Organizer has been changed to provide a “look and feel” similar to the Windows 7 file system. It is more customizable with a multi-nested user interface for practice group customization, and the ability to track Excel, PowerPoint, Web links, URL’s, Word Templates and LegalBar document assembly clause libraries.

An important new productivity tool in LegalBar 4.7 is ‘Document Defaults’. Also known as “MyD” (My Defaults), users can efficiently insert pre-selected document settings such as style set, theme, and font setting into any document with one click. According to Ed Maus, lead developer of LegalBar, “Document Defaults is an excellent addition to LegalBar. I think the LegalBar user will find it to be very helpful, particularly when editing an older document or one that was received from outside the firm.”

LegalBar Templates and Clause Libraries also now integrate with BEC’s CoreRelate database through MatterLink (LegalBar’s companion product) on the Word ribbon. Matterlink provides access to centralized client-matter and contact data for document assembly. Laurie Danford, Director of Software Development, shared her enthusiasm: “this update provides a new level of integration that delivers on the promise of secure, centralized, and easy to retrieve matter information from a centralized, shared database.”
