Families are in need in higher numbers than ever before, and this food will go to work to get them fed and back on track
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) July 01, 2012
Every summer, families with children on summer break find themselves in need of assistance to make up the difference for breakfasts and lunches provided by public schools during the school year. Local organizations like the Central Florida Community Food & Outreach Center in Orlando are challenged to keep pace with the demand.
This year's FRSA Affiliate Competition seeks to help out with a "Design and Build" contest using canned and boxed foods that will be donated to the Outreach Center.
"This could not have come at a better time!" said Community Food & Outreach Center co-founder Scott George. "Families are in need in higher numbers than ever before, and this food will go to work to get them fed and back on track." said George.
All the food used in the contest will be donated to the Community Food & Outreach Center to help stock their emergency food pantry. The event will be held at the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRSA) 90th Convention and Expo this week (June 28-30, 2012) at the Orange County Convention Center.
FRSA invites the public to come out to see the affiliate exhibits and encourages everyone to bring a non-perishable food item to the Expo registration desk to help the cause. The registration desk is located in Hall C of the Orange County Convention Center. The Expo floor will be open Thursday, June 28 from 1:30-5:00pm; Friday, June 29 from 1:30-5:00pm and Saturday, June 30 from 10:00am to 1:30pm. Admission to the Expo is free.
The affiliate competition occurs annually at the FRSA Convention and Expo. This years design and build exhibits will be judged by volunteers from the Community Food and Outreach Center. First, Second and Third Place prizes will be awarded as well as a prize for the FRSA Affiliate donating the highest number of food products to the food drive.
"FRSA Members are proud to serve people in communities throughout Florida by promoting ethics and professionalism," says Ann Marie Cargo, the Association's Director of Membership Services., "It is great to have an opportunity to help people in those communities in need of assistance."
