Encourage children to dream and take the time to write down their dreams
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (PRWEB) July 03, 2012
In the new young adult novel “Cameron and the Dinosaur Heroes” (published by AuthorHouse), by Donna Phelps, a young boy and his pet dog befriend an imaginary tyrannosaurus rex and help him find a place to belong. An excerpt:
“Cameron’s happy smile faded as his eyes refocused on the ceiling. His hands shook the box in his pocket. He still didn’t know what to do.
I wish I could play somewhere else, he thought. I wish I could play with dinosaurs. Now that would be fun.”
Inspired by the imagination of her own son, Phelps presents the story of Cameron and Kitt, a 10-year-old boy and his cocker spaniel. During one afternoon of boredom, they take an imaginary trip back to the Jurassic period and discover an exciting dinosaur world.
The two engage in fun with the dinosaur, playing games like dinosaur tag, but do so while helping him find a home. Phelps researched dinosaurs while preparing to write this book, choosing several species that are not often represented.
Phelps has a laudable goal with “Cameron and the Dinosaur Heroes.” “It is meant to encourage children to dream and take the time to write down their dreams, instead of just sitting in front of the TV or interacting with a video game.”
