A donation from Cartridge World, the UKs leading printer cartridge specialist has helped local charity Frensham Ponds Sailability (FPS) purchase a new sailing dinghy for their members.
FPS provides adults and children with a range of disabilities to enjoy a sailing experience and in many cases to build their sailing skills in order to race competitively. It's the largest centre for disabled small boat sailors in the South and last year its volunteers delivered over 1500 sailing sessions.
FPS sailors have a proud record of success, winning silver and bronze medals in the Access Class European Championships in Italy in 2011. Two sailors also competed at the World series event held in Sydney Australia in spring 2012.
“It’s great that Cartridge World are able to support us so generously’ says FPS Chairman Kate Richardson. “We have an enthusiastic and growing group of sailors and have just launched a youth programme. All our members get a lot of enjoyment from sailing, particularly as they can compete on equal terms. Thank you for this gesture.”
Cartridge World support also includes the launch at the FPS club of the ‘recycle it’ scheme. A variation on the old money back on your bottle idea, ‘Recycle it’ generates a donation from Cartridge World for every ink and laser cartridge collected.
“We encourage all our business customers to sign up for the recycle it scheme,” says Francis Marshall, owner of Cartridge World stores in Camberley and Woking. “We provide a recycling bin which we collect when full. Every cartridge collected earns a minimum 50p for FPS. It’s an easy and environmentally friendly way of raising money for a great cause.”
