E L James’ 50 Shades trilogy has certainly had a massive impact on search trends on our site. When we look at associated searches we can also see some interesting sex toy and lingerie searches too
(PRWEB UK) 4 July 2012
Each month, a UK money saving website reviews the most popular search terms that are input on-site by visitors, to keep on top of the latest trends. Throughout June, the most popular search terms followed a definite theme, with erotic novel trilogy 50 Shades, adult toys and lingerie topping the list.
The team at http://www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk analysed site data from June 2012 to look at the most popular search terms. In May 2012, the top three search terms had centred on holidays, The Hunger Games and eating out; with visitors turning to the site to find related discount codes.
When looking at the search data from June however, the most commonly input keywords in the VoucherCodesPro.co.uk search bar were as follows;
1. 50 Shades
2. Sex toy discounts
3. Ann Summers
5. Dominos Pizza
7. Microsoft Surface
8. Eating Out
9. iPhone 5
10. Euro 2012
Other popular search terms, narrowly missing out on the top 10, were ‘Hackney Weekend’, ‘summer dresses’ and ‘ V Festival’; in 11th, 12th and 13th place respectively. When tracking the site usage of individual visitors, VoucherCodesPro.co.uk found that, of the high volume of people searching for the 50 Shades trilogy books in June, 68% went on to look for lingerie-related discounts afterwards and 26% went on to look for sex toy discounts afterwards.
George Charles, Marketing Director at VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said;
“E L James’ 50 Shades trilogy has certainly had a massive impact on search trends on our site. It would appear that there is a direct correlation between the searches for the erotic novel and other terms such as those linking to adult toys and adult retailer Ann Summers.
“Perhaps the novels, which have become some of the fastest selling books of all time – largely due to word of mouth – are not just having an impact on the discussion topics amongst females around the UK, but it’s translating into a difference in the bedroom too.”
