Wright & Schulte LLC, a leading personal injury law firm, is investigating potential Skechers Shape-ups Toning Shoe lawsuit claims involving serious injuries that may be associated with the use of Skechers Shape-ups Toning Shoes. The manufacturer of Skechers Shape-ups is already named in numerous personal injury lawsuits, most of which are pending in the Skechers Toning Shoes Products Liability Litigation, currently underway in U.S. District Court, Western District of Kentucky (MDL 2308). According to court documents, plaintiffs allege that use of Skechers Shape-ups caused severe lateral instability, leading to serious injuries including:
Tendon and ligament injuries
Spinal cord injuries
Plaintiffs further allege that use of Skechers Toning resulted in hospitalizations, surgeries and even permanent disability. [http://www.jpml.uscourts.gov/sites/jpml/files/MDL-2308-Tag-Along_Transfer.pdf

The maker of the Skechers Shape-ups claims that their unique “rocker bottom” sole provides countless health benefits, including improved cardiac function and orthopedic benefits. According to lawsuits pending in the Skechers Toning Shoes litigation, the shoes are to be worn in place of other athletic shoes during daily activities, exercise routines, and in the workplace. Marketing claims for Skechers Shape-Ups promise that the shoes will allow the wearer to “Shape Up While You Walk” and “Shape Up While You Work.”
Since coming on the market, however, numerous consumers have reported serious injuries related to the use of Skechers Shape-ups. In fact, a May 2011 Consumer Reports article stated that toning shoes, including Skechers Shape-ups, had been in named in more injury reports than any other product in its database. According to Skechers Shape-up lawsuits, the altered gait created by the shoes results in severe lateral instability, which can cause hip fractures and dislocations, back injuries, broken legs, broken ankles and other serious injuries. Other plaintiffs claim they suffered tendinitis, as well as foot, leg and hip pain due to their use of Skechers Shape-ups.
