Culinary Vegetable Institute grounds will host the 10th Annual Veggie U Food and Wine Celebration

Bid on photo safaris to Africa, cooking classes at Le Cordon Bleu and other once in a lifetime destinations.

(July 2, 2012) – The finishing touches are being put in place for the 10th Annual Veggie U Food and Wine Celebration, at The Culinary Vegetable Institute, on July 21st, 2012.

The event boasts some of the top chefs and culinary celebrities in the nation, artisan food vendors and live and silent auctions showcasing unique trips and experiences. Auction items include photo safaris to Africa, sailing San Francisco Bay on an America’s Cup Yacht; a stay in an historic Irish castle; golfing in Scotland; a dream stay at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah, and cooking classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France-- all once in a lifetime trip destinations.

The “foodie” will enjoy winning The Greenhouse Tavern Rooftop Happy Hour for Forty; a romantic brunch for two at the Four Seasons Chicago Allium; a weekend stay for two at the beautiful Ritz Carlton St. Louis, and wine and food gift baskets donated by our guest chefs.

Flavors of the World. Each of the thirty+ guest chefs have chosen a cuisine to transport guests to a region or food style they might not otherwise experience. Also new this year is the addition of gourmet food trucks, an exciting trend happening around the country. Top chefs put their award winning restaurant menus “on the road” in city streets, parks and at catered events. Chef Rocco Whalen, restaurateur and executive chef at Fahrenheit in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, who was also recently showcased on Food Network’s Fat Chef series, will bring his “Short Rib 1” Fahrenheit Truck to the Food and Wine event. Gourmet food-truck operator Chef Chris Hodgson, who achieved nationwide recognition finishing second on Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race l brings his famous “Hodge Podge” truck which was showcased on the series. Hodgson recently opened Hodge’s in downtown Cleveland with restaurateur Scott Kuhn.
