AKRON, Ohio – (July 2, 2012) – In Melanie the Gentle Ladybug by Douglas Stephen Surbeck, Melanie is a young ladybug who is curious about the world around her. Melanie is aware that one day she will be able to fly, and talks with her friend Mr. Caterpillar, imagining a whole new world to explore. Melanie is surprised when she discovers her friend Mr. Caterpillar will turn into a butterfly and be able to fly as well. They look forward to the day when they can have fun flying together.
Through a series of transformational miracles that is natural to growth, the day comes when both friends are able to fly. They visit the places on the meadow that they’ve only seen and wondered at from afar. Child audiences will naturally be taken with this simple yet beautiful story of love, friendship, and the joy of discovering life.
This book will be featured at the 2012 Beijing Book Fair Book Exhibit in Beijing, China on Aug. 29 Sep. 2, 2012.
