AKRON, Ohio – (July 2, 2012) – In Melanie the Gentle Ladybug by Douglas Stephen Surbeck, Melanie is a young ladybug who is curious about the world around her. Melanie is aware that one day she will be able to fly, and talks with her friend Mr. Caterpillar, imagining a whole new world to explore. Melanie is surprised when she discovers her friend Mr. Caterpillar will turn into a butterfly and be able to fly as well. They look forward to the day when they can have fun flying together.

About the Author
Doug Surbeck currently lives in Akron, Ohio. He is married, and has four children and five grandchildren. Children have always been a big part of his life. He heads a family business writing children’s books, and his debut Melanie the Gentle Ladybug is near release. He loves the outdoors – fishing, hiking, and gardening are among his favorites.
