Celebrity Television Personality, Ty Pennington, to be Hosted by Norway to Bridge Design, Culture, and Lifestyle to U.S.

During this trip I look forward to learning more about Norwegian design and the Norwegian lifestyle, and in turn sharing my experience with my fans in the U.S.

“During this trip I look forward to learning more about Norwegian design and the Norwegian lifestyle, and in turn sharing my experience with my fans in the U.S.,” said Pennington, “I’m honored to have this opportunity to meet various designers and organizations that are hosting me for this amazing Nordic tour!“

Pennington’s tour will begin in the country’s capital, Oslo, where he will be hosted by VisitOslo. He will be hosted by the distinguished Norwegian architecture firm, Snøhetta, with a tour of their headquarters and the stunning Oslo Opera House built in 2007. The popular ski jump Holmenkollbakken, designed for the 1952 Winter Olympics just outside of the Oslo, will also be a stopping point on the tour. Ty’s Oslo tour will conclude with a regal visit to the Royal Palace, where current monarchs King Harald V and Queen Sonja reside.

Ålesund, the furniture design and manufacturing hub of Norway, is the next destination for the tour. Pennington will get a behind the scenes look into the Norwegian furniture designers and manufacturers such as Varier, VAD, and Ekornes. His visit in the design town will be guided by the Association of Norwegian Furniture Manufacturers. Since Pennington’s aesthetic is a reflection of the modern and clean design of Scandinavian craft, he will have the opportunity to cultivate more inspiration for his own design lines. Pennington might also hunt for trolls while out on tour of the Trollstigen, a section of the National Tourist Route before leaving for Bergen.

A cruise down the Norwegian coastline, on the Hurtigruten steamliner, to the country’s second biggest city, Bergen, Pennington will have to make sure not to blink if he wants to catch the moment of darkness during the Nord summer. He will get a dose of Norwegian hospitality with a salty jaunt through the city’s Fish Market and a ride up to Mt. Ulriken courtesy of VisitBergen.

Ending his stretch in the rising city of Stavanger, courtesty of Region Stavanger, Pennington will glide through guided tours of the Norwegian Petroleum Museum where he’ll learn why Norway is such a flourishing country and the Norwegian Canning Museum. To close the tour, Pennington will prepare to get wet and make fish faces at the river salmon.

“It is a pleasure to be the host for Mr. Pennington in Norway,” said Henrik Width, Deputy Consulate General, “We look forward to working together to bridging a stronger relationship for Norwegian design and culture.”
