"While we will never know what could have taken place had the fun and competitive experience of bidding gone forward, both the buyer and Kenny are nonetheless very pleased with the result," said Scott Kirk, executive vice president of Grand Estates.

Grand Estates Auction Company, the industry leader for luxury real estate auctions, announces the sale of country legend Kenny Rogers’ The Lake House for $2.25 million on Tuesday, June 26th. The dedicated website for the lakeside retreat, surrounded by 150 acres of virgin forest, received more than 11,500 visitors and generated 270 inquiries, 73 previews and 12 bidders registered. But the number everyone is focused on is the sales price of $2.25 million. According to tax records, the lakeside estate was the highest sale in a two-county area in the last two years for a single-family home, where estate homes with acreage are not uncommon.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to witness the energy and excitement that the live bidding process offers. We received an offer on the property and Kenny accepted. The home was sold. However, in fairness to all of those who were present, we offered the opportunity to open negotiations with anyone who wished to partake,” said Scott Kirk, executive vice president of Charlotte-based Grand Estates Auction Company. “While we will never know what could have taken place had the fun and competitive experience of bidding gone forward, both the buyer and Kenny are nonetheless very pleased with the result.”
The custom, Polynesian-inspired, five bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom lake home was built around a lanai and pool to perfectly integrate indoor and outdoor space. The resort-like home was designed by Kenny Rogers himself and finished with superb craftsmanship, state-of-the-art systems and luxurious furnishings. The lakeside estate was sold fully-furnished and turn-key including a pontoon boat, go-karts and other recreationals.
The new owners are looking forward to closing within 30 days and are planning to make The Lake House their family home. Although the lake home ultimately went to a Georgia resident, interest in the property came from 16 states and Canada.
“The fact that this home was owned by Kenny Rogers certainly added to the excitement, but in our business it is the home itself that is the star, and we elevate all of our clients’ homes to celebrity status to ensure we achieve the results they are seeking,” continued Kirk. “Achieving record-breaking results is certainly an exciting accomplishment for the team. It is a true testament to the value of a properly executed marketing campaign.”
