Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 05, 2012
Healthesystems, a workers' compensation pharmacy and ancillary benefits management provider, is pleased to announce that Kathleen S. O’Lenic, B.S. Pharm., M.A., Pharm. D., has been accepted to the Official Disability Guidelines Advisory Board (ODG). As part of the ODG board, O’Lenic will provide medication reviews with recommendations on covered medications for the ODG Treatment Guidelines, published by Work Loss Data Institute.
O’Lenic will assist ODG by responding to requests for comment on various medications or therapeutic classes of drugs to ensure that recommended therapies are appropriate, safe and cost-effective. Her appointment comes at the recommendation of Ralph Kendall, longtime ODG board member and Vice President of Clinical Services at Healthesystems. “Having been heavily involved in writing many medication reviews throughout my career, I look forward to being involved as part of ODG,” O’Lenic says. “It is an honor to be considered and appointed to the board.”
“We are excited to continue our board-level involvement as well as our active participation with ODG,” says Daryl Corr, president of Healthesystems. “Kate’s input allows us to play a critical role in supporting our customers and programs by assisting with the ODG’s evidence-based guidelines standard.”
O’Lenic is a clinical pharmacist, and having conducted over 1,000 Independent Pharmacotherapy Evaluations, she brings a great deal of workers’ compensation-specific expertise to the ODG board. She has also served as a Drug Information Specialist and Preceptor for Doctor of Pharmacy students at several universities. She has co-authored a number of publications and is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Society of Pain Educators, and a life member of the American Association of University Women.
O’Lenic was actively involved in the Healthesystems accreditation process in order to gain URAC certification, which the company received in 2009. She also holds degrees from several universities, including a Doctor of Pharmacy, a Master of Arts in Communication and has earned Medication Therapy Management certification.
“We are proud of Kate’s board-level appointment with the ODG,” says Corr. “We’re confident that the wealth of real-world workers’ compensation experience she has will greatly benefit the board.”
