Survalent Technology Commissions New SCADA System for Grand Haven Board of Light and Power

MISSISSAUGA, ON — July 3, 2012 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at Grand Haven Board of Light and Power.

The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power is one of more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities serving homes and businesses across the United States. They are locally-controlled by a five-member Board of Directors elected by Grand Haven residents with approximately 13,500 customers in the greater Grand Haven area. The BLP has two electric generating facilities, six substations, and approximately 220 miles of electric distribution lines. They are a member of the Michigan Municipal Electric Association (MMEA) and Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA).

The new system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: Worldview, Command Sequencing, Disturbance Analysis, Event Data Recording, SCADA Add-In, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation and Multispeak.

“We are pleased that Grand Haven selected Survalent to replace their existing SCADA System, states Steve Strauss, Vice President of Sales for the Eastern United States. “Our SCADA technology will provide an easier way to construct database and screen graphics as well as make better use of new investments in their substations.”
