Consumer Benefits Alliance promotes ways to get out of Credit Card Debt

Consumer Benefits Alliance offers tips to get out of debt. Consumer Benefits Alliance is an outreach company that helps United States consumers get out of debt by qualifying people for a Debt Management Plan (DMP).

First: Stop increasing debt. If any credit cards are maxed out, cut them in half. Also cut up any "convenience" cards, such as gas cards, department store cards, etc. Use one credit card only to buy "emergency things", that is it.

Second: Make a budget.. "Write down the amount spent in each category of spending last month as you budget for spending for the next month. Don't sweat if you feel like the amount is too much. For now, just write it down. If you spent $250 on clothes last month, write it down." says Brandon Trombino of Consumer Benefits Alliance.

Third: Figure out the amount owed, to whom, and on what terms. Debt can often feel overwhelming if you really don't have a clear idea of how much in debt there is. Gather all bills, and make a simple list or spreadsheet of all debts. Write down all the pertinent facts, including name of the creditor, total balance on the credit card, the minimum monthly payment, and the interest rate of the credit card.

Fourth: Start paying it off. Have debts that are past due and the creditors are hanging out on your door step demanding your first-born? Have debts with exceedingly high interest rates? Prioritize these debts and pay them off accordingly.
