Eva Cherry, President and CEO at Silicon Mechanics

Silicon Mechanics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of rackmount servers, storage, and high-performance computing clusters, announces that it has received an award from the Puget Sound Business Journal as part of its new Eastside Fastest-Growing Private Companies award program. Silicon Mechanics will be honored at the awards ceremony, to be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at The Golf Club at Newcastle, in Newcastle, WA. The Eastside Fastest Growing Private Companies are automatically entered in the statewide 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies competition.

The PSBJ’s newest award program honors the top 50 innovative, inventive, and inspirational companies headquartered east of the Seattle area’s Lake Washington. Seattle’s Eastside, often referred to as Silicon Valley North, is a hotbed of high-tech Fortune 500 and innovative startups. Home to Microsoft, Expedia, Amazon.com, and many other tech companies, the technology corridor enjoys an unemployment rate of less than 3.5 percent. Silicon Mechanics has thrived amidst this challenging and world-class technology landscape, and has served many of the Eastside’s large and small technology companies.

Silicon Mechanics is headed by Eva Cherry, an industry veteran with more than twenty years of executive management experience in technology and manufacturing, including 10 years as a management consultant in Deloitte’s Strategy & Operations and Enterprise Applications practices. The company is one of only two female-run companies to receive the prestigious PSBJ award.

Ms. Cherry has served as president and CEO of Silicon Mechanics since 2009. Under her guidance and leadership, the company underwent significant restructuring, returning to solid profitability in 2010 and significant growth in 2011 and 2012. She has been recognized for her financial turnaround of Silicon Mechanics in a tough economic environment, and her work has been credited with saving Washington 50 jobs.
