Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) July 09, 2012
The new space will allow the CAC to hang more work by local artists. It will also be educational, as the CAC will be able to offer workshops, lectures, and art classes there. Founded in 1989, The CAC is dedicated to presenting, promoting & building a community for Contemporary Art in Las Vegas.
”Vegas is one of those interesting cities that has grown so fast it forgot about culture. With the lack of a museum and a need for more exposure of the arts to the community, The Contemporary Arts Center strives to fill that void by showing and supporting not only local artists but artists from around the world.” - Demecina Gray, CAC Gallery Assistant, BFA School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
“The CAC has always been a place for artists to connect with the community. Funding a Members Gallery would allow us to show more local talent, and the Reading Room provides a creative venue for artists and visitors to make connections. Over the past 23 years, we've collected a small library of art books from all over the world, and we'd love to share this inspiration.” - Cynthia DesGrange, CAC Secretary, Graphic Designer at GrangeGraphics.com, Bachelors of Applied Art in Graphic Design
The building of the CAC’s new space is part of the broader movement happening downtown that is making Las Vegas a national and international hub for art, culture, and community.
To accompany the online campaign the CAC is hosting a party (http://www.meetup.com/LasVegasCAC/) at the Bar+Bistro at the Arts Factory on Thursday July 19th from 5:30 to 8pm! Drink specials: Beer (tap) $3, Sangria (sprite) $2.00, Sangria (proseco) $4. Everyone welcome.
