uTest, the leading provider of in-the-wild software testing, today joined the Race for Apps winners at Number 10 Downing Street to help honour these companies for their innovations in the mobile apps space.

The meeting with Number 10 Tech City Advisor, Kieran Kumaria, recognised the winners of the Race for Apps; a competition celebrating UK-based software developers by challenging them to produce apps for visitors to the 2012 Olympic Games.

The competition took part in Shoreditch, an area that has expended out from the original Silicon Roundabout and is renowned for its entrepreneurial talent and dense community of innovative tech and digital companies.

uTest sponsored a special prize for best usability, plus offered promotional discounts on in-the-wild testing services for all the finalists. Throughout its own startup journey — launching in 2008 and growing into an award-winning leader in 2012 — uTest understands the challenges facing startups. The company is actively investing in the UK startup space with a range of services such as functional testing, security testing and usability testing for web and mobile apps.
"It is an honour to be invited to Number 10 and to have been a part of the Race for Apps competition,” said uTest UK spokesman, Jim Brooks. “The Race for Apps program has been fast-paced, energetic and innovative throughout and the winners have been a reflection of these qualities. uTest is proud to have contributed to the creative vibe that enables the UK to produce so many great tech startups.”
