ABC Signup customers expect increase in activity through the first half of 2012 to continue into 2013, according to annual June survey. The company's time-saving registration software is a contributing factor.

According to the results of consecutive surveys, business is on the uptick for customers of registration software developer ABC Signup, and its time-saving software is a contributing factor.

That’s a key conclusion drawn from ABC Signup’s first and second annual June surveys, which assess business trends and the benefits of the software from a cross-section of providers of training programs, professional development, conferences and other events.

“We built our software on customer feedback and continue to seek and receive it on a daily basis,” said Todd Chandler, ABC Signup’s president. “But with our surveys, we gather a broader snapshot of business trends and perceptions about our product that we don’t always get, much less process, from our typical customer conversations. This information is very helpful to us, and valuable to our customers in terms of some of the enhancements to our software in response to their input.”

In each of the surveys, nearly nine out of 10 respondents reported their number of events as “more” or “about the same” as the year prior, with the number with “more” outpacing those reporting “less” at a rate of three-to-one. Those reporting more events year-over-year grew from 39% in 2011 to 42% in 2012, and those indicating a growth in event attendance year-over-year jumped from 34% in 2011 to 44% in 2012.

Also in both years, approximately nine out of 10 customers indicated that they were spending more time on registration administration prior to ABC Signup. Of those, 46% in 2012 said ABC Signup cut the time spent on registration management by at least half, compared to 42% reporting such time savings in 2011.

“We know there is a correlation between the time savings our software delivers and a program’s growth, whether in terms of number of events or attendance or both,” said Chandler. “Our customers have told us. One of our selling tools is their many testimonials stating how ABC Signup frees them to do other things to grow their programs. This survey again confirms that our customers are gaining time to do just that.”

In yet another positive trend, customers appear more bullish this year on their outlook for their programs or events for next year, as 47% of 2012 survey respondents expect growth in 2013 with 49% forecasting the same level of business. In the 2011 survey, only 32% anticipated growth in the year ahead (2012) while 61% expected levels to remain the same.

The survey also included questions asking participants to rate their favorite features of ABC Signup’s registration software from the perspective of a program administrator and from the perspective of a registrant. The final question sought suggestions for improvement, including an “other” option that allowed respondents to enter specific requests for new features or functionality, or tweaks of existing tools. In 2011, ABC Signup developed several software enhancements based upon survey feedback, and intends to do similar based upon the 2012 survey.
