The NALA is thrilled to partner with TGGF for the launch of Shop Local for a Cause. You can help preserve our WWII veteran’s stories while sending a veteran on a journey of a lifetime.

Shop Local for a Cause is a brand new campaign created by the NALA, which supports local businesses and community causes. Shop Local for a Cause gives businesses an opportunity to offer big discounts for their customers on specific days throughout the year, while pledging their support for important causes on those special days. Business owner’s pledges such as, pledging a certain % of sales to donate or $1 for every customer shopping that day will be going on all over the United States. Business owners will not only be giving discounts, but they will provide goodies and provide specific information encouraging customers to stop in on their Shop Local for a Cause Day.

On Saturday, August 18th, the co-sponsor for the event is The Greatest Generations Foundation (TGGF). 16,112,566 American veterans of the Second World War, fewer than 1.7 million remain alive. They are passing at the rate of 852 a day, or 35 an hour, or about one every two minutes.

Since 2004, TGGF (http://www.tggf.us) has offered free journeys to former battle sites for World War II veterans. These voyages back to the battlefields can be emotional, reminding us all of the heartbreaking toll war takes on human lives. The journey provides veterans a measure of closure on their war experience, the chance to share in the gratitude for their service, and a venue to educate others.

"The NALA is thrilled to partner with TGGF for the launch of Shop Local for a Cause. We are encouraging our businesses to participate and donate to this worthy cause. You can help preserve our WWII veteran’s stories while sending a veteran on a journey of a lifetime," says CEO, Jeffrey Rosenthal.

The NALA is proud to partner with worthy causes that benefit communities throughout the nation and all around the world. The NALA's (National Association of Local Advertisers) passion is making a difference for local business owners by increasing awareness, sales and profits through branding/advertising programs, business discounts, member education and useful resources in an affordable, easy to use service. In addition, the NALA believes in giving back by connecting local business owners to well-run charities that help others through their charity program.

Please visit Shop Local for a Cause to sign up to participate or to find local businesses participating on Saturday, August 18th. TGGF also has a Text to Donate number; one can donate $10.00 to The Greatest Generations Foundation today, by texting TGGF to 20222.
