We are proud of our ability to repay the CSU System loan, and to continue to operate efficiently and effectively without the use of state funds

Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSU-Global) announced today that as of June 30, 2012, its $12 million origination loan from the CSU System Board of Governors has been repaid in full and ahead of schedule. In 2007, these funds were granted to help CSU-Global establish itself as a unique 100% online public university to operate exclusively from its own cash flow without future appropriations from the State of Colorado.

“We are proud of our ability to repay the CSU System loan, and to continue to operate efficiently and effectively without the use of state funds,” stated Mr. Gus Skinner, Vice President of Finance for CSU-Global. “The CSU-Global faculty and staff have worked hard to ensure the academic, operational, and financial integrity of the university, and we are pleased to be able to work from our unique model as we serve nontraditional learners in Colorado and beyond.”

The CSU System Board of Governors created the university to serve the unique needs of working adults through high quality online bachelor’s degree completion and master’s degree programs. The $12 million origination loan helped the university with its start-up and initial operating needs. CSU-Global made its first payment of $4 million dollars in June of 2011 and paid back the remaining $8 million dollars in June of 2012, a year earlier than the original terms of the loan specified. Since its first class started in September of 2008, CSU-Global has graduated over 1000 students, and it currently has 5,900 active students, including over 900 U.S. military members, veterans, and dependents around the world.

“On average, our students are 36 years old, have children living in their households, and are currently employed although seeking to increase job security or receive a promotion,” shared Dr. Jon Bellum, Provost and Senior Vice President of CSU-Global, “For the benefit of its adult learners, CSU-Global features a Tuition Guarantee that provides students with a fixed tuition rate from entry to graduation, and does not charge student fees which allows students to financially plan for their projected educational expenses to reach degree completion.”
