The Construction Defect Center says, "The LP, or APT Trimboard, ProTrim, or ChoiceTrim products may be susceptible to premature failure. Symptoms of this failure include, swelling, decaying, rotting, or delamination of these Trimboard type products. The failure should be obvious to the homeowner, as it is easy to see, and tell the wood trim has failed. If a homeowner has a home built since 2005, and is now dealing with failed window trim, or fascia board, we want to hear from them, in order to help them discover if their window trim, or fascia board is from LP, or ABT." The Construction Defect Center is expanding its national initiative focused on identifying any US homeowner, who has a home built after 2005, that has defective wood trim boards, or fascia boards. The group is specifically looking for homeowners, whose home has a potentially defective building product called Louisiana Pacific's, or ABT Building Product's TrimBoard, ProTrim, or ChoiceTrim. These types of building products were frequently used in new home, subdivisions, or condominium projects, coast, to coast, as window trim, on soffits, as a homes fascia board, lattice, fencing, or on handrails. According to the Associated Press on February 09, 2010, "A judge has certified a class action accusing Louisiana-Pacific Corp. and ABT Building Products Corp. of making and marketing exterior trim for houses that rapidly deteriorates." The Construction Defect Center says, "Rotting, decaying, soft, or delaminated trim boards is not a new problem, its actually a very old problem, we completely understand the issue, and we do not want homeowners, especially those in a subdivision, or condominium project to get left holding the bag. While our initial focus of this investigation might be Louisiana Pacific, and or ABT Building Products, actually we are looking at all makers, and we will assist homeowners, in new homes with product identification, should they have these problems with their home's exterior trim board, or siding products.
