The Pinnacle Group, a leading national provider of enterprise computing solutions, has been awarded a $5 million contract to provide mission-critical systems to Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL). Faced with technical issues as a result of lower performance systems installed a year ago, PPL turned to Pinnacle to resolve the problems quickly with minimum disruption.

Pinnacle, an HP PartnerONE channel partner, proposed a mission-critical solution based on HP ProLiant servers. The solution required developing a fully functioning, technically sound proof-of-concept entirely off-site.

The Pinnacle Group was able to accommodate the requirement for off-site development and PPL’s need to have the replacement solution installed within 30 days.

Pinnacle’s HP-certified engineering team successfully created a working system in the company’s lab. The solution shipped to PPL, accompanied by a Pinnacle engineer to assist with the installation, beating the 30 day deadline.

According to Pinnacle Group CEO Michael Fedele, “Pinnacle’s continued investment in its technical team and lab is somewhat unique in a time when so many other solution providers have severely reduced or eliminated these same resources faced with a recession and the migration by so many companies to cloud-based services.”

"PPL needed to quickly deploy a high-performance solution for mission-critical operations to increase customer satisfaction, ” said Stephen DiFranco, vice president, Americas channels, Enterprise Group, HP. “HP ProLiant servers, combined with Pinnacle Group’s technical expertise, enabled PPL to achieve a more efficient, higher-performing IT environment to meet the demanding requirements of the utility business.”

Bruce Kantor, PPL’s director of IT Infrastructure Services, commented, "The Pinnacle Group, in less than 30-days, turned around a working proof of concept, which allowed us to procure server equipment associated with a large, mission-critical project. We are grateful for their exceptional assistance in making this solution a reality for PPL.”
