Samsung have announced the release of a new smartphone targeted at those who love to text and chat on social networks. Billed as the Samsung Galaxy Chat, the Android phone is designed especially for “socially active users”.
dSmartphones.com, the leading news and updates site for smartphones and applications, can reveal that the new Samsung Galaxy Chat will be powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The new handset features a very similar look to the classic Blackberry smartphones, sporting a full QWERTY keyboard with a 3-inch touch screen just above. One big difference is that the keyboard features a dedicated key for users to launch the Samsung ChatON service, through which they can chat using text, images and animations.
In addition, the new device comes loaded with Game Hub, for users to access all of their favorite social games.
Spain is likely to be the first country to get the new phone, although no launch date has been given so far, revealed dSmartphones.com. Following Spain, the phone will be rolled out to the rest of Europe, then China, Latin America, the Middle East, Southwest Asia and Southeast Asia.
Dan Lim, editor of dSmartphones.com, spoke of his excitement at the latest new Samsung smartphone, which he believes is sure to be well received:
“As far as we’re concerned, there’s absolutely a market for this new product. The Samsung Galaxy Chat is ideal for socially active Samsung fans who don’t want to change over to another brand. “
“Up until now, Samsung users haven’t had the benefit of a QWERTY keyboard which enables a much faster chatting experience, so we’re sure it’s going to take off, especially in European and Asian countries.”
