TrackPoint Systems (TrackPoint), a leading provider in asset management hardware and software solutions, is pleased to announce the release of their 3rd generation of Tr/IPS™ (Trailer Inventory and Protection Systems ) Master Control Unit for untethered trailer tracking. This new technology clearly puts TrackPoint Systems at the leading edge of providing low cost, high speed and multi-functional asset management.

The Tr/IPS™ G3 MCU maintains TrackPoint’s signature integrated solar panel, patented power management system, wireless sensor network and peel-and-stick installation process, while adding these industry leading features including:

·Rechargeable lithium-iron phosphates batteries, providing greater than 7 years of operation without the need for replacing
·2G and 3G HSPA+ cellular connectivity, this technology ensures significant battery life improvements and dramatically quicker wake-from-idle time – delivering a true always-on connection.
·Increased GPS sensitivity and accuracy
·Lower overall power consumption, allowing more messages and better response times

In addition, the Tr/IPS™ G3 MCU contains a revolutionary low-power motion sensing mode. Unlike other devices which only detect starts and stops, the Tr/IPS™ G3 MCU changes its operating mode to send fewer messages when stopped and more frequent messages when moving. This optimizes both battery usage and message transmission to ensure data is sent only when necessary.

“The features of the new Tr/IPS™ G3 MCU provide for the lowest cost of ownership of any fully-featured untethered trailer tracking device,” said Ben Schnitz, Chief Technology Officer of TrackPoint. “In most cases, the only time the customers will handle the MCU is during installation. Between the 3G cellular technology and long-life batteries, customers can enjoy virtually maintenance-free trailer tracking for the life of their trailers.”
