SimonSays Entertainment, Producers, along with Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones of Front Row Productions, Inc. and the entire producing team of Broadway’s “A Streetcar Named Desire”, has been selected by the Eastern Region Equal Employment Opportunity Committee of Actors’ Equity Association as the recipient of its “Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award” for the 2011-2012 season.

In April, SimonSays Entertainment joined the producing team of the Broadway production of Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece “A Streetcar Named Desire”, which opened April 22, 2012 at the historic Broadhurst Theatre, 235 W. 44th Street, New York.

The Committee felt that “the production tangibly exemplified our mutual goals of diversity, inclusion, non-traditional casting, and equal opportunity for all who work in the theatre”. The Diversity Award honors and encourages those who actively promote these goals in our industry. The Diversity Award will be presented at a reception on Tuesday, July 17th in the Council Room at the Actors’ Equity Association building, 165 W 46th St, 14th Floor, New York, NY.

Leading the multi-racial revival cast is 2-time Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, in his Broadway debut as Stanley, Nicole Ari Parker ("Soul Food") as Blanche DuBois, Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent) as Stella and Wood Harris ("The Wire") as Mitch. Directed by Emily Mann (Artistic Director of Princeton's esteemed McCarter Theatre) and featuring an original score by 5-time Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard, this scintillating Streetcar brings a whole new rhythm to Williams's enduring portrait of sex, class and secrets in one of America's most fascinating and diverse cities.

This is the second Broadway production for SimonSays Entertainment - the first being Porgy and Bess currently playing on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier. SimonSays Entertainment is the 2012 Tony-award winner as a Producer of Porgy and Bess for “Best Revival of a Musical” and Audra McDonald was the winner for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical”. SimonSays Entertainment has also produced two Sundance Grand Jury feature films – Night Catches Us starring Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington, and Gun Hill Road starring Esai Morales, Judy Reyes and newcomer Harmony Santana.
